France, Marseilles, La Ciota, The Police

The devil plays interesting games - I am already second day in La Ciota, having some kind of job related workshops. As side story - the plane has been late, we have missed exit on the highway to La Ciota and other general stuff.

Other strange chain of events - I have been in The Police concert yesterday, which has been pretty good fun - screaming teenagers with wet pants, sound quality excellent and around 50k people singing along some words, which Marseilles french.

Before going to the concert we had a lecture in the metro about french and Marseilles french (correct, incorrect), wondered why there are french street names in the city, where almost everyone speaks arabic and have bought 3 beers for 11 euros, which is kind of strange amount, considering, that the price on the price list has been 3 euros per 0.33l heineken can. Oh well, I will earn those few euros in two years, thanks to this post and Google ads.

Will post some photos later, after I will process pictures.

Saturday - Sunday

I have just realized, that for such country as Algeria it is very strange that they speak (at least a bit) English. Of course, I can survive with my french (non-existant) skills (by pointing with finger).

Another strange thing is that they wish bon appetite AFTER eating my food, if they were referring to digesting it.

If you speak in English - you are called "Mister", but if you shake hands with a cook - "My friend". Not sure which is better, from they money point of view "my friend" has to pay 30% more most of the time, but also is usually offered some very sweet tea (I hate sugar) or strong, but very strange, coffee.

It is very strange to see arabic country with women walking freely. French have fucked up here really badly probably. Also it seems that I am lonely foreigner wandering around,  not sure if it is because I am only one white (whitish) or just other foreigners are hiding in the hotel.

City looks like after war (which is not strange). And no one tries to cheat me even if they see, that I don't have a sense of their money yet and always willing to pay ten times more than products are worth.

6th day

"South Korean firm is offering to clone pet dogs" - it instantly reminded me the not-so-good-but-fun-to-watch movie with Arnold. Here we go - RNL Bio - the world's first commercial dog cloning service.

So what can I say - the day is coming! How much further can we go?

Hell

Today it finally got me. Boredom. Saudi Arabia is very good place if you want to earn some cash, but very bad if you want to spend it and are not interested in cars.

It is like prototype version of hell: you live for ages,  have everything you need, but nothing to do. Well you can eat of course, but now I have thoughts such as - "Man, eating today? Not again..".

Imagine the situation, where you cannot go insane, you do not die and are sitting in the dessert. Like you are alive, but have nothing to do. Just you and your thoughts. After few thousand years you finally understand that you cannot escape from it. And it is boring as hell.

So life here reminds me that image of hell - you are in survival mode, not because it is difficult to survive, but just you do not need any other function. No headaches, no long nights, no drug abuse - nothing.

This has been an advertisement for meditation.

Red shoes and locals

Tomorrow I am going to play soccer so had a nice walk in the shopping avenue (suitable only for cars) searching for shoes. Fucking country - they are obsessed about good quality, branded shoes, average prices around 500 riyals. For one evening of soccer game it is a bit too much. So I have walked and walked around and found some Puma shop with "special prices". The result:

Pic-0286

for 125 riyals (approx 25 euroes).

While going back to the hotel I have been morally abused by locals. Or at least they have tried to do it and failed for these simple reasons:

a) I am not indian

b) I don't speak arabic

c) If you are shouting while driving - look at the road.

BTW, I have got new charger for 10 riyals (approx 2 euroes). The question was - "do you want real one or a fake?".

That is the reason every boy writes a blog

Everytime I see some news like this - I feel some future in blogging (my personal):

"

Today, TechCrunch has a full-time staff of eight. This year, it hired a CEO. In August, 1.25 million people visited TechCrunch or its affiliated blogs at least once, according to comScore Inc. It brings in $240,000 per month in advertising, according to Arrington, and pulls in additional revenue from conferences and parties. Most important of all, TechCrunch is in the black.

"

and of course I think it will take me just few minutes per day to achieve this amount of money.

This is how it should be done

"...

The 41 million cell phone users in the Philippines have embraced text messaging. The electronic connections have fostered a culture of quick greetings and forwarded jokes.

...

Smart Communications spokesman Ramon Isberto said each time the recipient spends the money, the sender receives a transaction message. That allows the sender to see how the funds are used.
